Tongue Tied

First Impressions

Tongue Tied by Easelmouth is an evocative and at times if I’m honest; unsettling dive into frustration, resignation and the cyclical nature of human struggles, but it’s an absolute must watch & listen!

The track is a gripping blend of poetic lyricism and atmospheric instrumentation, creating a sense of disorientation and melancholy that lingers long after the final note fades. I absolutely loved it!

This track left me as speechless as the title suggests, moreover I was compelled to listen again and again.

Tongue Tied Lyrical Interpretation

The lyrics of Tongue Tied paint a stark picture of internal and external conflict. The opening lines— “Run to suffer the hopeless days / Behind a scarecrow’s sown on face”— immediately introduce the song’s themes of futility and detachment.

The image of a scarecrow, an inanimate figure meant to ward off threats, suggests a facade—one that hides vulnerability beneath a stitched-on mask.

The chorus, “With the lights down low / We’ll never talk about it / With the lights down low we’re walking blind again,” is a powerful refrain that speaks to willful ignorance and avoidance.

Consequently, it conveys a sense of stagnation where issues remain unresolved in the darkness. This line repeats throughout the song, reinforcing the idea that cycles of denial and blindness continue unchecked.

Similarly, the second verse introduces an almost dystopian narrative: “Go save a city that swallows the fools / Fix a leak in the drain with your tools / You may need a bucket to catch all the drool.”

There’s a biting cynicism here, as though the effort to fix a broken system is as futile as catching water in a sieve. The reference to a “parasite in a friend costume” adds an element of betrayal, emphasising the deceptive nature of some relationships.

As the song progresses, it takes on an almost fatalistic but it’s so engaging you just want to listen.

The lines, “Crawl back home after all your mistakes / Crawl back home but never pick up your pace,” suggest a forced return to the same mistakes, as if no lesson has been learned.

This resignation is further amplified by the closing repetition of the chorus, hammering home the notion that nothing changes, and the cycle of blindness continues.

Composition & Vocal Delivery

The instrumentation of Tongue Tied by Easelmouth mirrors its lyrical content, creating a dark, immersive soundscape.

The track features brooding guitars, atmospheric synths, and a driving rhythm section that ebbs and flows with the song’s intensity.

The pacing of the song contributes to its hypnotic effect—never rushing, but always pressing forward, much like the inevitable return to the same old struggles.

The deep rich vocal delivery plays a key role in the song’s emotional weight, what a jaw dropping incredible voice!

Whether delivered with a sense of quiet defeat or rising intensity, the performance enhances the song’s themes of frustration and suppressed emotion. There’s a rawness to the lyrics, and the way they are vocally delivered only amplifies that feeling in my opinion.

Tongue Tied Overall Impression

In conclusion, Easelmouth’s Tongue Tied  is a gripping exploration of inertia and existential fatigue. They capture the feeling of being trapped in a loop, unable to break free from patterns of avoidance and disappointment.

The song’s dark imagery and repeated refrains serve as both a warning and a lament—highlighting how easy it is to walk blindly through life rather than confront its harsh realities.

For fans of introspective, emotionally charged music with poetic lyricism, Tongue Tied is a must listen.

Easelmouth delivers a track that is as emotional as it is thought-provoking, leaving the listener reflecting on their own cycles of silence and inaction and perhaps the question how can I change this?
